Designing a Sensibility for Sustainable Clothing (S4S)

Designing a Sensibility for Sustainable Clothing (S4S) is an AHRC-funded collaborative research project co-hosted by academics from the University of Exeter's Politics department and Wolverhampton University's Fashion School.

Set against a backdrop of major concerns about the social and environmentral impacts of the clothing industry’s production methods and the amount of ‘fast fashion‘ garments consumed and discarded to landfill, the S4S project explores how consumers can be encouraged to think, feel and act more sustainably in relation to their clothes.

Between January 2017 and September 2018, members of the public were invited to attend several series of co-created making and mending workshops. These hands on workshops reflected an alternative and more eco-friendly lifecycle of fabric and were designed to help promote more environmentally and ethically focussed behaviour

On Friday 6th from 7:30pm, the S4S project team will be offering members of the public the chance to view our short documentary highlighting the project's premise and key findings. The film will be introduced by the project lead professor Clare Saunders afterwards there will be an opportunity for asking questions and to preview our exhibition. The Poly bar will be open for drinks

On Saturday 7th, from 10am -5pm our interactive exhibition will be open for public view. Come along  and let us know whether it changes the way you think, feel and act in relation to your own clothing choices!
