Cornwall’s medieval story – from pioneering saints in the fifth and sixth centuries to the rebellions of the later period – sometimes overlooks the eleventh and twelfth centuries. This is a shame, particularly as much of the stone sculpture of these years is exceptional. In this talk, Dr Alex Woodcock, experienced stonemason, medieval architectural sculpture expert and author, will look at what exists of the Romanesque carving in the county along with the people who’ve been drawn to record it and write about it.
