I studied and constructed textiles at Chelsea School of Art before moving to Cornwall a number of years ago. I have always painted within this field, exploring colour light and pattern.
More recently, I have begun to work on location at Maenporth and Meuden, producing a collection of sketches and paintings whilst exposed to the many elements and challenges this sometimes presents; wind, Cornish rain, fog, sand and sometimes sunshine!
Also painting still life, concentrating on natural forms and views from the windows of my living space, over the rooftops and trees to the ever changing sea, through and beyond.

As a Cornish painter, I draw on the strong connection I have with my Cornish heritage. I am Falmouth based and work in community engagement as part of my art practice, and as a teacher, with recent work including, The Falmouth Dock's Mural, Kimberley Park Automaton Project and Mosaics, community Arts for Abbeyfield and writing and illustrating a book for The Falmouth Art Gallery.
My practice is site based, working directly onto paper and canvas. This enables me to harness the physical and emotional feelings of being part of the landscape, expressing both weather and space. The work is as transient as the time in which it is painted. The moment is captured, fresh and honest.
So, why 'In The Meud'?
From notes written on visits to Meudon and Maenporth:
"When I am anything but in the mood (Meud)...
I make visits, frequent and always different, rarely disturbed by others, who like the same space.
This what I do in the main (Maen)".
