MADELEINE STROBEL

Madeleine's work has three distinct strands: Drawing, Painting and Papermaking. Landscape, sea and sky are her forte and her large canvases capture the constantly changing light and moving water so as to give the viewer the impression they too are out there on the ocean amidst the elements. In contrast her smaller drawings and paper-based works are delicate and closely observed studies of the landscape.

During a 32 year long career as a painter, Madeleine has had solo exhibitions in the UK, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and Venezuela. Her work is included in public collections in Edinburgh, Caracas, Oxford and London, and for a decade she has exhibited with the 21 Group of Devon artists. She has studios in London and Devon.

LESLEY HARRY

Printmaking encouraged endless exploration and experimentation. Lesley creates detailed etchings and monoprints that express her interest in the tension and fragility she observers where water, land and rock coincide, be this in a mountain stream, off the Cornish coast or beneath Arctic cliffs.

The Seacliff series of etchings are based upon sketches and photographs taken over a 12-day coastal voyage and are both distinctive to a particular coastline as well as universally recognisable. The coastal line drawings are mostly undertaken at sea and sketched whilst underway so that progress through the water and the changing horizon is captured within the drawings.

Lesley exhibits at the Penwith Gallery, St Ives, and has a studio in Falmouth.

JANE SMITH

Jane is fascinated by the individual qualities of glass and clay and how they influence each other when constructing. The key is that one is resistant and the other non-resistant, one transparent and the other opaque,  Her technical mastery of clay and glass enable Jane to create unique sculptural pieces that push the boundary of what can be achieved in both mediums.

Her current work is part of a series looking at the landscape and coastline, focusing on the natural and man-made materiel that construct our environment; how they interact wit each other to create a balance of composition, and the physical changes at the edges. Well-known in the South West, and a regular exhibitor at the Penwith Gallery, St Ives, Jane is now developing a national and international following for her unique hand built pieces.
