Future Plans

Plans for the Poly

The Royal Cornwall Polytechnic is undergoing an exciting trans- formation, building on its legacy and future proofing it for the community. In 2017 we successfully secured initial grant funding from Cornwall Council to begin Phase One and were also able to raise an additional £15,000 in matched funding.

We operate from a 180 year old building which, though well maintained, is holding us back. We need to put in disabled access and we have a large upper floor Gallery which can't be used to its full potential due to the condition of the floor. Our long-term plans are to renovate our lovely old building and create both a more vibrant local community hub accessible to all and a state of the art venue. This transformation will take place over a number of phases with only the first phase complete.

In phase one we reinstated the library back to its original form and dramatically improved the bar area. These spaces can now be used as both communal and performance spaces making us more flexible in our offering to the community and providing central town meeting and entertaining spaces.

However, we have a long way to go and still need significant funds to make the improvements that the Poly needs for the future.

There are event sponsorship opportunities available from our catalogue of film seasons, art exhibitions and live events. If you are interested in showcasing your support of The Poly to both your clients and to our cus-tomers and would welcome the opportunity to explore other ways to support us linked to Gift in Kind support.
