Ivor Richards - General Manager

For much of his career, Ivor has been involved in the development and delivery of youth and community arts and media projects. For thirty-five years he worked for local authorities in the south west managing public-facing community organisations and enjoying successes with activities, events, performance and production management across a diverse range of community groups in equally diverse settings. He has particular interests in live performance, audio branding, theatre and radio, broadcast journalism and podcast production and considerable technical knowledge in live broadcast, streaming, radio production, audio engineering and spatial audio. Academically, he holds a degree in Community & Youth Work (JNC), a first-class honours degree in Radio, and an MA in Sound Design (distinction).

Ivor brings his skillset to The Poly with the strong hope the team can ensure The Poly retains and extends its importance and accessibility as a valued arts and education resource for all in our community. Watch Ivor's welcome video here.

Jane Birbeck - Senior Administrator

Jane B looks after everything back-office at The Poly, from finance to membership. With degrees in history and illustration and a background in marketing, communications and publishing, Jane is passionate about stories and pictures, and loves having a dig in the Falmouth History Archive. On days off she can be found drawing and foraging along the Cornish coast.

Karl Owen - Head Potter

Karl is our head potter, responsible for delivering a range of courses, workshops and pottery services. Karl is an experienced ceramic maker specialising in Raku and Saggar firing. He has 30 years of teaching experience and welcomes potters of all abilities to our community pottery studio.
