Some 30 years ago Peter Gilson, founder of the present day archive, organised the collection of personal memories of life in Falmouth from many older residents. The resulting transcriptions provide fascinating insights into the lives of ordinary people from the turn of the century.
This talk will share some of the stories covering home life, shopping, entertainment and some local impacts of the two World Wars.
Falmouth History Archive volunteer Jill Harris will also explain how present day volunteers have embarked on a project to record more memories of local life that it is hoped will be equally fascinating for future historians.
