Have a look at the calendar text here to see what's coming up.
The main principles underlying the practical exercises will be: tone/temperature: complementary colour: intense /subdued colour.
The practical nature of the workshop is designed to increase your awareness and perceptual recognition of how colour is ‘seen and made’ .The work will be done at a small scale and an ability and familiarity with using brushes and handling paint is important, as careful mixing is required to achieve success.
Some feedback from students who have undertaken my course includes:
“Without a doubt, one of the most useful lessons I have learnt so far.”
“Grey is beautiful. I never knew just how much before”
“The simple exercises introduce you gently to a basic understanding of Colour, which is useful for people who fear working with colour (like me!)”
I am a practising painter with thirty-plus years of teaching experience on Fine Art Degree courses. I developed these workshops to help students understand the principles of colour contrast, thereby making colour exciting and accessible.
