The Canter-Clouts quartet is an exciting group of players from across the south-west region. Led by Pete Canter and Philip Clouts, and bringing together leading exponents of jazz from Dorset, Devon and Cornwall for a rich mix of sounds and influences.
Pete Canter is an in demand sax player in the Exeter scene, where he also runs the successful Bridge Jazz Club at Exeter Phoenix. He is "...a skilled composer across a range of jazz styles and an inventive soloist with a distinctive sound…" (Ian Mann, The Jazzman).
Philip Clouts has led the successful groups Zubop, and Zubop Gambia with renowned west African musicians and playing at numerous notable venues and festivals. His more recent quartet has released several well received albums, including 'Umoya', for which The Guardian praised its "precise ebullience and relaxed funkiness".
