Donate

As a small, local charity, we rely almost entirely on sales, memberships, donations and our wonderful volunteers to keep our live arts and film programme, galleries, and community pottery going.

The pandemic and subsequent lockdowns were especially challenging for The Poly as we were unable to operate at our usual level. In addition, we've had to make important upgrades to our beautiful listed building, which has meant further periods of closure for some areas of operation.

With this in mind, anything you can donate will help our local venue keep going for the community and is hugely appreciated.

And if you are a UK taxpayer, with your permission we can make your generosity go 25% further by claiming Gift Aid on your donation.

Every penny you give, however big or small, really does make a difference!

The Poly, Save Our Stage Crowdfunder: We did it!

Post pandemic, The Poly Theatre was one area of the building we were not been able to fully open.

During our Covid-enforced closure we began some much-needed renovation works, including removing and safely disposing of asbestos materials recently identified in the backstage area of our theatre. While we funded much of this work through Poly reserves and assets, we needed the community's help to meet the cost of the remaining repairs to the area affected. We also needed to upgrade necessary electrical systems in our theatre.

Unable to open our theatre for stage performances until we completed this important work, we launched a Crowdfunder campaign and raised over £15,000!

The money raised helped us to…

  • Reinstall and update audio/visual systems for live music and theatre events
  • Install a hearing loop to be used for all events in our auditorium
  • Replace the curtains and ropes on stage
  • Repair and redecorate areas affected by asbestos removal

Much of this work has already been completed and we achieved our goal of having the theatre fully back in use for the run of Christmas.Time 2022!

There is always more work to do and we have left our Crowdfunder campaign running to allow for any late donations

A very big thank you to everyone who supported our campaign. Your donation, however big or small, has made such a difference - allowing us to bring our lovely theatre back into use.
