Donate

As a small, local charity, we rely almost entirely on sales, memberships, donations and our wonderful volunteers to keep our live arts and film programme, galleries, and community pottery going.

The pandemic and subsequent lockdowns were especially challenging for The Poly as we were unable to operate at our usual level. In addition, we've had to make important upgrades to our beautiful listed building, which has meant further periods of closure for some areas of operation.

With this in mind, anything you can donate will help our local venue keep going for the community and is hugely appreciated.

And if you are a UK taxpayer, with your permission we can make your generosity go 25% further by claiming Gift Aid on your donation.

Every penny you give, however big or small, really does make a difference!

Help The Poly digitise for the future!

Hosting the Falmouth History Archive records, The Poly’s computer systems are failing and it needs your help to replace and improve them!

The Archive has been based at The Poly for over 15 years and during this time the dedicated volunteers have been digitising Falmouth’s social history. They have built up a wealth of photos, documents and maps stretching back 300 years. This significant resource is regularly accessed by organisations and local people conducting research into Falmouth’s fascinating past.

However, The Poly’s ageing computer systems are now in desperate need of replacement if it is going to continue to offer this crucial service to our local community.

Why Digitise?

Researchers can view digital copies of archive material without needing to handle them. They can also be used in exhibitions. This means popular items from a collection don't become worn and damaged from over-handling or being on long-term display. It also allows documents to be shared globally at the click of a button creating an accessible and dynamic database.

You can explore some of the material available in the ‘Archive’ section of The Poly’s website: https://thepoly.org/collections/falmouth-history-archive-2

Can you help?

With the support of the community, The Poly is hoping to raise £5,000 towards replacing and upgrading its building-wide computer systems - crucially including its now obsolete server. A project that will cost in the region of £9, 000 overall.

“The social history contained within the archives belongs to us all and it is part of The Poly’s mission to make these items more accessible to local people, but we can’t do this without help from the community!” – Ed Cartwright, Poly Manager
