Conjuring up the mood of 1930s Paris, fused with the energy of a campfire jam session, The Schmoozenbergs bring bouncy rhythms, jaunty melodies and their own little bit of special sauce to create a heart-warming, hip-swinging sound.
Two duelling guitars, a violin and a double bass come together to make a sumptuous Gypsy jazz show, full of intricate musical interplay and playful improvisation.
Based in Bristol, The Schmoozenbergs formed in 2012, and have toured a wide range of venues… from festivals (including Glastonbury, Boomtown, Shambala and Green Man) to international swing dance events, from arts centres to street corners.
Returning for their second show at The Poly, the band will be showcasing brand new music from their latest album Awaken (recorded in February 2019, with the support of Arts Council England). Their show will combine a selection of classic jazz tunes of the 1930s with their original compositions, presenting a homage to the roots of this beautiful genre, and a journey into new ideas and inspirations. Expect an amusing, evocative and upbeat night of music to put a spring in your step and a smile on your face.
Sam Stennett – Guitar
