A short documentary and talk looking at how the organ is transforming the landscape of contemporary music.
Featuring London Contemporary Orchestra, Hollywood film score writer Craig Armstrong and highly acclaimed organist James Mcvinnie, it explores the organ's gothic roots, how it's immense sound is being interpreted and the catholic politics that hinders its exposure. By Cone Magazine, an independent Cornish based magazine & media platform for British art, music and culture
Shot on site of the UK’s first experimental organ festival Organ Reframed at Union Chapel, and using the same cinema cameras recently used on the BBC Planet Earth 2 series, this documentary delves deep into the catholic world to expose a remarkable movement currently happening, with the organ being at its centre. The documentary also highlights the interesting political and social forces up against the worlds first synthesizer, which is beginning to transform an entire industry.
Centred around the historically significant Henry Willis organ, the documentary features the likes of: BAFTA, Golden Globe and Grammy award winning composer Craig Armstrong, Internationally renowned organist Jamie Mcvinnie, organist Claire M Singer, and the London Contemporary Orchestra.
