Straddling the knife edge between hilarious and heart breaking, No Apologies celebrates the importance of wishful thinking.
This personal and multi-layered production fights back against the pressure to mould ourselves into images that are acceptable to society and highlights the danger that lies when we are not able to live as our full, vibrant selves.
Beginning as a radical mis-remembering of Nirvana’s 1993 MTV Unplugged concert, the show unfolds and transforms. Featuring beautiful reinterpretations of mythology, personal stories, the nostalgia of growing up in the 90s, the power of grunge and an exploration of Kurt Cobain’s relationship with gender; inspired by internet discourse that’s been circulating for years.
“This is precisely the kind of fearless, formally inventive, emotionally devastating theatre the medium needs.”
DUS√KA RADOSAVLJEVIC ̇, THE THEATRE TIMES
“This ruddy gorgeous show is a call to live your life on your own terms and to the very full, and whether you are trans or not, that’s a lifesaver in every way”
— Lyn Gardner, The Stage
“Heartfelt, funny, dazzling, but also seamed with pain... there’s something uncanny about how her voice mould’s itself to Cobain’s, bringing a crackle of vulnerability to the stage.”
— Maddy Costa - Exeunt Magazine
