Taking a simple approach to learning the fundamentals of woodcut printmaking, local artist-printmaker Jill Dunn will demonstrate and teach the techniques required in relief printmaking, taking the small group through each stage in producing a small woodcut block for printing.
Starting with practicing using the tools, each participant will carve a sampler ‘Monogram” block, which they can use to learn about the carving, inking and pressing parts of the printmaking process.
‘Learning through Doing’ is at the heart of a printmaking practice and having gathered the basic skills, participants will be able to compose and design a second small block to carve and print in their own style.
