Dir. Kelly Reichardti | 2025 | 110 mins | English
Acclaimed filmmaker Kelly Reichardt (First Cow, Certain Women) makes her much-anticipated return with The Mastermind – an exquisite crime drama unfolding under the autumnal glow of 1970s Massachusetts, with a smouldering jazz score by Rob Mazurek of the Chicago Underground Trio.
Emmy and Golden Globe winner Josh O’Connor (Challengers, La Chimera) stars as JB Mooney, a down-on-his-luck husband and father who plots to change his fortunes by pilfering a collection of abstract paintings from a local museum. When the ramshackle plot goes awry, Mooney’s ties to his wife Terri (Alana Haim) and parents (Hope Davis, Bill Camp) fray as he struggles to conceal his guilt.
Nominee for the Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival.
"A career-best performance by Josh O'Connor" - Chase Hutchinson, IGN
