Following the loss of the Packet services in the 1850s, investment in new docks and railway connected Falmouth to the rest of the UK.
This led a new tourism industry in Falmouth resulting in the development of hotels and boarding houses offering entertainments and outings for the visitors to explore the coast and countryside as never before.
This well-illustrated talk will explain how and why tourism developed here, and what aspects can still be seen today.
