Sue Lovell

Sue uses boxes as a space where painted landscapes are combined with collections of objects; found, carved, constructed, fragmentary & symbolic. These encased arrangements of images create miniature, evocative habitats bowing to Surrealism. Her curiosity cabinets of treasures sit next to paintings & drawings of a windswept Cornish coastline. The wild beauty of the sea & headland is portrayed in this work – we are then steered homeward to the comfort of arrangements of objects on shelves & in fold away boxes where nature’s beauty is enshrined & revered.
