An exhibition of paintings by Cornish artist Victoria Gillow, that explores a fully immersive experience in paint. By working plein air and in reflection back in her studio in Falmouth, Victoria connects physically and emotionally with the land and coast where she grew up - where memories and the ‘newness of now’ combine.
Her work embodies a deeply rooted connection with ‘place’- the spirit of place - and explores the connectivity of collective memory through sharing her art with others that relate to places we know.
‘Restorative’ is there for an enquiry into the truly restorative nature of making and viewing art.
For Victoria the exhibition is also a means to explore the replenishing/restoration that occurs when working expressively, painting in the landscape .
Restorative - Vicky Gillow
