Free Machine Embroidery

Learn how to transform your sewing machine into a drawing tool that’ll give you the freedom to make lines, marks and textures in an expressive way. At the start of the workshop you’ll be shown a variety of samples of stitching styles and effects. During  the  day you’ll be given the opportunity to experiment with alternative types of sewing thread, machine needles, stitch tension, fabric types (including transfer-adhesive & washaway fabric) and appliqué.

Free machine embroidery aka. ‘free motion embroidery’ or ‘free machining’ is a delightful stitching method that usually has people converted instantly.

Participants mustn’t doubt their drawing ability as the unique qualities inherent in this sewing method always make for successful results.

Should you have specific ideas for a project be sure to bring them with you along with any fabrics, threads and sewing equipment (like sharp scissors) that you may particularly want to use.

We have a limited amount of sewing machines available. We will distribute these on a first come first served basis for participants of this workshop, alternatively you can bring your own.
