This six-week course is the perfect introduction for those who are new to handbuilding, or for those with some experience who would like to develop their skills to make their own tableware. You will be encouraged to develop your own design ideas to produce functional tableware using techniques like coiling and slab building. You can make your own bowls, platters, or plates - the timing of this course is perfect for making something special for your Christmas table!
The course will also teach you about different options for finishing techniques, using slips, oxide/glaze washes, or even embedding different organic materials that will enhance the surface of your pieces.
At this time, the number of participants per course has been capped at three with social distancing and current government guidance in mind, though we will be reviewing this as guidance changes.
If you have any questions about this course, please get in touch with our head potter Karl at karl@thepoly.org.
