We are sad to announce Hazel
O’Connor’s show has been cancelled due to ill health.
As you may be aware, Hazel suffered a serious medical event in January.
According to her team “Hazel has been showing positive signs of
improvement, only small steps at this point”. More information including a
message from her brother Neil can be found at http://www.hazeloconnor.com. There is also a Gofund me page set up to raise funds for
her rest and recuperation which can be accessed through her website and social
media.
As
this show has been postponed on a number of occasions The Poly has taken the
decision to cancel the event with the hope of welcoming Hazel back in the
future.
Please
contact the Poly Box Office on 01326 319461 to arrange refunds or pop into the
shop 10am-5pm Tues – Sat.
Please
request your refund by 19th of March (the intended date of the
event). Any tickets which haven’t been refunded after this date will be treated
as a donation and any proceeds will be divided between The Poly and Hazel’s
team.
Our thoughts are very much with Hazel and her family and I'm sure you will join us in wishing her a full and speedy recovery.
'Breaking Glass 40 Years On-Hallelujah' at Princess Pavilion, Falmouth
“They were absolutely fantastic, bringing the entire audience roaring to its feet.” Telegraph
Celebrating the Hallelujah moments of a stunning and illustrious live career, the first major female star of the 80’s, award winning singer-songwriter Hazel O’Connor rose to fame forty years ago. Starring in the iconic film Breaking Glass, there were hits and eye-catching Top of The Pops appearances aplenty along the way. Hazel's ageless songs include Eighth Day, Will You, Big Brother, Monsters in Disguise and Decadent Days - all of which seem even more relevant in our present times.
In this very special show Hazel is accompanied here by virtuoso saxophonist Clare Hirst (The Belle Stars, Communards, David Bowie) on sax and Sarah Fisher (Eurythmics) on keyboards This powerful blend of voices and musicianship brings a classy touch of energy, passion and fire to Hazel’s vibrant performance. Unmissable!.
“ It's all there, that voice, soaring sax ...timeless.”. Glastonbury Festival
“The sturdiness and earthy expression of her voice...marvellous” Hot Press
