As a group of creatives The5Collective aims to develop work which represents the fluctuations of the seasons through the calmness of the flora, water, and sea. The imagery and wildness of the Cornish landscape is both personal and responsive to the collective.
Flux
is a representation of each artist. The Cornish landscape continues to inspire
each individual responses to the seasons through the richness, beauty, power,
structure and sweeping energy of the landscape, along with still life forms
depicting the relationship and elements of the living environment. The azures, whites,
ochres and greens are represented throughout with and emphasis to a sense of
place and belonging.
The5Collective friends are Cornish Contemporary
painters and mixed media artists who have worked together for over a quarter of
century in the art sector.
Maxine
Whitbread-Abrutat lives on the wild North Atlantic Coastline of Perranporth,
her work focus being, the emotive questioning of landscape. Jo Cottam lives
near to Praa Sands in West Cornwall, the vast skies and changing light are
intrinsic to her work. Liz Dickinson lives in Praze close to Helston,
describing her style as “abstracted” so in it lies the recognisable but
interpreted rather than an exact response. Sue Loydell lives by a creek on
Carrick Roads, her work focuses on landscape and the sea using texture and
collage layers.
