Crochet Advanced Beginner: Textures

‘Crochet: Textures’ follows on from our ‘Crochet Foundation for Beginners’ course, exploring a variety of stitches creating textural effects. It is a great way to build on your foundational skills, expand your crochet knowledge, and grow in confidence.

Every week we will work on a sample covering a technique, and visual and written resources will be provided. 

This course is suitable for experienced beginners who have a grasp of basic crochet skills and want to increase their knowledge of different stitches and techniques. The level is appropriate for those who have completed a Crochet Foundation for Beginners with Cathy, or who are comfortable with foundation chains, and double and treble crochet stitches.

A kit including some yarns and a hook will be provided to make your samples. You may bring your own yarn and tools if you prefer, and a notebook is helpful.

Course outline

WEEK ONE: Bobbles and puff stitches - we will learn how to use volume to create bobbles and puffs.

WEEK TWO: Mesh and lace - we will explore how to create openwork crochet fabrics, and will create some lace mesh samples.

WEEK THREE: Ribs and basketweaves - we will explore the ‘round the post’ technique to create ribbed and basketweave textures.

This course runs on Tuesday 17th, 24th and 31st January. All classes must be attended.
