The Anna Maria Fox Finale: A Cornish Christmas Celebration

After a year long series of events, we are proud to host the Festive Finale to the Anna Maria year.

Professional performers join members of the Falmouth community to stage an evening of festive song, dance, and revelry in the auditorium of the Royal Polytechnic Society, which a teenage Anna Maria famously founded. Audiences will enjoy seasonal entertainment from the highly acclaimed Scary Little Girls, Bec Appleby and poet Charles Fox.

The event, which is free* to attend, is the last in a highly popular series of heritage events that have been run throughout the year, celebrating the birth of Falmouth philanthropist, Anna Maria Fox, 200 years ago.

Following our short performance in the theatre, guests will move to the  Main Gallery, to share delicious mince pies, figgy oggin and a glass or two of fizzy wine while students from Mawnan Smith primary school regale them with traditional song and dance. Several knowledgeable individuals will also be present to discuss Anna Maria and her legacy… and, via a very talented character actor, guests may even choose to chat with her in person!

The event will also see the launch of a special Anna Maria Fox App – which will give users fascinating insights into the philanthropist’s life and influence on Falmouth and surrounding areas – as well as a campaign to see her life achievements recognised via an English Heritage Blue Plaque.

*The tickets are free, but you will be asked to make a £1 Poly Fund donation.
