Join us for an evening of the best in emerging talent from the Falmouth music scene hosted by John Cartwright (Smokin’ Pilchards).
This Showcase will feature a variety of musical styles and genres with musicians drawn from the popular ‘The Moth & The Mic’ evening hosted at The Moth & The Moon, Falmouth.
Featuring:
Sarah Nield:
Sarah is a storyteller; singer and guitarist known for her soft, expressive voice and gentle, intricate fingerpicking guitar style. Audiences connect with her deep, soulful performances of songs of the sea, of love and life. Her respect for the sea and its immutable power are reflected in her music, with powerful pieces drawing out the allegorical connections with our lives and souls. Expect a blend of folk/indie favorites and original work
Tom adams:
Combining enveloping minimalism with a spellbinding falsetto, songwriter & producer Tom Adams makes music with enduring emotional quality that is as expansive as it is elegantly peculiar.
He has established a reputation for masterfully balancing tactile acoustic and electronic elements, received accolades for his wide-ranging output of synth-guided exploits, heartfelt songwriting, melancholic piano-ambient works, and moody film scores.
Tom's music has received international airplay on Radio and TV in Europe, Asia, Australia and America. He has also performed solo concerts in Asia and across Europe, both headlining and performing alongside artists such as ‘Perfume Genius’, ‘Hauschka’, ‘Nils Frahm’ and ‘A Winged Victory For The Sullen’. He has also performed a Tiny Desk (home) Concert for NPR in America
Lee Rahn:
Singing about a river, stargazing, rain and catching light, Lee Rahn is back at the Poly for the Moth and Moon showcase to play some brand new material, as well as songs from his debut album released earlier this year.
Callum Kenworthy:
A singer songwriter based in falmouth, Cornwall. He draws inspiration from a variety of artists such as John Martyn, Joshua Burnside and Van Morrison, to artists like Bonobo, Cleo Sol and Jordan Rakei. Callum says “Music has always been a sanctuary for me and I hope to provide that comfort for anyone that chooses to listen”
With his unique rhythmic guitar work and soothing melodic vocals Callum’s songs are a real joy to behold.
Alan Cummings:
Alan has been forming bands, writing songs and playing them to anyone who will listen for just over five decades. After power pop and indie periods and a short break of about 30 years to do a “proper job”, he retired to do alt-folk in pubs, clubs and festivals with his band Little Beach. Finally settled in Falmouth, he’s a regular provider of songs, stories and poetry at the Moth and beyond.
