The Moth & The Mic Concerts

Join us for an evening of the best in emerging talent from the Falmouth music scene hosted by John Cartwright (Smokin’ Pilchards).

This Concert will feature a variety of musical styles and genres with musicians drawn from the popular ‘The Moth & The Mic’ evening hosted at The Moth & The Moon, Falmouth.

Line up (in no particular order!):

Owen Davies & Nicole Kiser

With his band Owen and the Arrowheads, Owen writes witty and leftfield songs about everything from ancient history to the rat race. Expect quirky pop with influences from latin music, jazz, Cornish folk and Paris cafe. Tonight, Owen plays alongside special guest singer Nicole Kiser to perform songs from his work-in-progress musical about an eviction amidst the Cornish housing crisis.

Hannah Bullock

Hannah Bullock blends pared back shimmering guitar, a rich voice and powerful lyrics, conjuring a warm and timeless sound. She’s been hailed as “spellbinding” by folk duo Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman, and described by Old Bakery Studios as “a real surprise find... hints of Joni Mitchell, Beth Orton, Sandy Denny and early Crosby Stills Nash and Young”. She’ll be joined by Kath Buckler and Kyra Norman, bringing close harmonies, dark cello and a heartbeat drum to this special set.

Wake The River

Cornwall UK Singer-songwriters Elisabeth Freeborn and Amy Woodburn formed the band in 2020 to offer a musical response to the plight of people and planet and were later joined by multi-instrumentalist Ashley Height and drummer Matt Griffiths.

Joe Doyle

Joe plays roots folk and traditional Irish song. Influenced heavily by the Cornish coast Joe’s powerful vocal delivery and soothing guitar style are rare delights.
