A 3-day workshop for those who would like to learn about working with oil and cold wax, and how they can create atmospheric landscape paintings, full of layers, texture and depth.
The course will allow participants to loosen their approach and to work intuitively, but will also cover information on colour, mark making, composition and tone.
The workshop will also include plenty of tutor demonstrations, 1:1 support and plenty of time for experimentation and play.
By the end of the 3 days participants will of created a small series of around 10 atmospheric landscapes on paper.
The workshop will cover:
• Working on paper
• How to develop a series & find your personal voice
• Introduction to abstract landscapes
• Scaling up
• Tone and value
• Line and shape
• Basic colour theory & mixing
• Compositional techniques
• Experimental mark making techniques
• How to build layers of colour (opaque and transparent)
• Working wet into wet & also wet into dry
• Working intuitively & how to loosen up your approach
• How to incorporate oil sticks and drawing mediums
• Using additives such as powders, sand and pigments
