The Stunt Man
Dir. Richard Rush | 1980 | 125 mins plus Q&A & Mixer | English
When a young fugitive (Steve Railsback) on the run accidentally disrupts a movie set, he finds himself with a dangerous new identity: a stunt man. In exchange for his silence, the enigmatic and manipulative director (Peter O'Toole) offers him the job of a lifetime, thrusting him into a world where reality and illusion blur. As he falls for the film's leading lady (Barbara Hershey), he must navigate the perilous stunts and the director’s mind games, all while keeping his true identity hidden. "The Stunt Man" is a thrilling, satirical ride that explores the thin line between life, death, and the magic of cinema.
Screening as part of Art of Action, a UK-wide film season supported by National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network.
