Join writer Laura Horton and comedian Suzy Bennett for The Bad Sex Writing Show.
Laura and Suzy will read out collected stories, poems and observations from their tour, some from the free workshop earlier that day!
Laura started 'Bad Sex Writing' in 2021 as a way for people to create funny, engaging and accessible fiction about sex, with no pressure to write well.
Imagine if Letters Live and My Dad Wrote a Porno had a baby.
There will be a free workshop in the afternoon, where different prompts and writing exercises will encourage participants to find ways to write comically about sex – be that a short story, a poem or a play. (Book the workshop here https://thepoly.org/whats-on/event/3314/bad-sex-writing-workshop )
Audiences can come to one or both events.
If you want to send in a submission, please email badsexwriting@gmail.com by 1st November 2024. We’ll be accepting plays, poems and short stories with an upper word limit of 600 words. Just remember the pieces need to be comically bad but always consensual. If you want help, email for words prompts to weave into your passages.
“Even though these events are spaces for humour, I’ve had a lot of people open up after workshops, making me realise how messy everyone’s romantic lives are. Ultimately, this sort of camaraderie makes sex less intimating – and makes us all feel less alone.”
