'WOMEN IN ACTION' SEASON AT THE POLY

We are thrilled to announce The Poly has been awarded £2,000 to present an exciting season of films and workshops celebrating the women in the action movie genre.

The line-up will include three films focusing on the career of Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh, an international icon known for doing her own incredible stunts.  Another highlight will be the screening of Point Break - Kathryn Bigelow’s ultimate cult classic, rarely seen on the big screen in recent years and returning with a 4K restoration.

The workshops on offer will include stunt work for screen, and a special effects makeup workshop.

All this and much more!

The season will run from October to December and is part of ART OF ACTION: a BFI FAN initiative supported through National Lottery.

Conceived by FAN and delivered in partnership with BFI, Art of Action offers an action-packed journey through cinema from the jaw-dropping stunts of silent cinema pioneers via the daredevil ethos of Hong Kong filmmaking to today’s intricate dynamic visual choreography.

Art of Action will explore the cinematic artistry, skill and craft involved in creating iconic sequences and films, as well as engage with the historic roots and cross-cultural influences of action cinema.
