The Moth &The Mic Concerts

Join us for an evening of the best in emerging talent from the Falmouth music scene hosted by John Cartwright (Smokin’ Pilchards).

This Concert will feature a variety of musical styles and genres with musicians drawn from the popular ‘The Moth & The Mic’ evening hosted at The Moth & The Moon, Falmouth.

Hannah Bullock blends pared back shimmering guitar, a rich voice and powerful lyrics, conjuring a warm and timeless sound. She’s supported numerous acts across the folk scene, including Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman (“a spellbinding set”), Sound of the Sirens (“had us truly captivated”) and Cornwall’s very own Martha Tilston. Hannah will be accompanied by cellist/percussionist Kath Buckler, bringing close harmonies, dark cello and a heartbeat drum.

Essy Sparrow is a local singer songwriter,  blending honesty with a light touch of humour through her indie, folk, story-led music. Drawing inspiration from Laura Marling, Joni Mitchell and the goddess of pop herself, Taylor Swift. What comes out tends to be, brutal, sometimes sad, usually vulnerable, often witty and most of the time brimming with nostalgia

Club Lauda is a new instrumental project from Moth & Mic regulars Julian, Cally, Tom and Will. Expect meandering aural adventures that delve into the hypnotic and heavy, all cooked up live in the moment.

Smokin Pilchards Trio are an alternative folk-stomping shanty machine based in the UK playing folk and blues songs about murder, mischief and mis-adventure.
