Tutor Hugh Appleton will guide you through the steps of constructing your drawing, building a sense of three-dimensional mass, and achieving a likeness.
A model will be sitting for the entire session, and the techniques you'll learn (which can also be applied to working from a photograph) will enable you to work by eye, without the need for drawing grids or visual aids. Hugh will explain his process and be on hand to offer personal help and guidance
While you're welcome to use different materials, working with charcoal allows you to concentrate on achieving a likeness without having to worry about the complexities of colour. It can feel messy and intimidating if you're not used to it, but Hugh will show you how to handle it effectively so that you can achieve powerful drawings in very little time.
The workshop will take place in the beautiful and spacious main gallery located on the second floor of The Poly, right in the vibrant centre of Falmouth.
All equipment and materials will be provided.
