Stage Combat: Cutlass Masterclass

Ahoy! Come and join the crew was we unlock some of the skills you need to swing a cutlass like a pro swashbuckler. 

The cutlass, the iconic weapon used onboard ship by navies and pirates alike- the swiss army knife of maritime combat. Drawing on historical and performative skills will cover the development of the cutlass, guards, footwork, cuts, parries along with dramatic flare. 

Stage/Screen Combat is the sort of fighting you see on stage and screen and is a way of creating dramatic scenes of conflict without anyone getting hurt, though choregraphed movements. Its origins are ancient, but the ‘modern’ version comes from the Elizabethan era. 

Suitable for 18+ No previous experience required, but to get the most from the session some experience is suggested.

This is a physical workshop as such a basic level of fitness and mobility is required to take part.
