Andrew Lownie’s book Entitled now feels uncannily timed. Published last August, it has taken on a new urgency in light of the news cycle of the past few months – from Prince Andrew’s final removal from royal titles and public life to the renewed scrutiny surrounding the Epstein files. What first appeared as a forensic biography now reads as something closer to a live document of reputational collapse.
Drawing on years of research, interviews and previously unseen material, Lownie charts the rise and fall of the House of York with remarkable clarity. But the story reaches far beyond one disgraced royal, opening out into deeper questions about entrenched privilege, institutional protection and a growing loss of public faith in national life.
