To celebrate the opening night of the 2026 Enys Chamber Music Festival join us for a tour of trad music from across the UK and beyond with Sean Graefe-Morrison and the ‘utterly mesmerizing’ (Bristol 24/7) duo, Filkin’s Drift.
Described as ‘a fluent and fearless player’, award winning violinist Sean Graefe-Morrision is motivated and enthused by an eclectic mix of music and has performed at a high level in a number of guises. While a prizewinning graduate of both the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire he is incredibly passionate about the music of his native Scotland and has performed and recorded around the country with a range of groups. One of Sean’s main projects is Thorpe & Morrison, an Anglo-Scottish fiddle and guitar duo who have toured and recorded to critical acclaim. Their most recent release "Grass & Granite" was nominated by Fatea Records as Instrumental Album of the Year 2024.
In this show Sean will be joined by his longtime friends, Seth Bye and Chris Avery, who together form the widely celebrated duo, Filkin’s Drift. Together they have earned widespread acclaim with extensive national airtime on BBC Radio 2, 3, 4, 6 Music, and BBC World Service. Renowned for their live performances described as ‘hugely entertaining’ (RnR) and renowned for their ‘gorgeous vocal harmonies’ (Folk Radio UK), the duo have enchanted audiences across the UK including FolkEast, Warwick Folk Festival, St George’s Bristol, and Llangollen International Eisteddfod.
Sean, Seth and Chris have a long history of performing together and together formed ‘Birmingham’s Premier Folk Supergroup’, The Filkin’s Ensemble in 2020, an exciting collaboration of 15 of the UK’s finest young folk musicians. The group has seen massive success with performances on national radio and in festivals across the UK. In 2023 they released their debut EP ‘Live from the Folk’, recorded in The Folk of Gloucester, a 16th Century Tudor building, the ensemble perform each track live, capturing their unique sound palette without any editing or overdubbing.
