Comedy Genius // Duck Soup

 

The Cinematologists return to The Poly for another recording of their acclaimed podcast following successful events for In The Mood For Love and The Piano. This time it’s in their guise as the official podcast of the BFI’s Comedy Genius season. They top off a run of comic masterpieces at The Poly with a screening and discussion of the Marx Brothers’ classic Duck Soup from 1933. 

 

Co-host and Falmouth University lecturer Dr. Neil Fox will discuss his love for the Marx Brothers and Groucho in particular, before the screening of a film that features more classic-one liners than maybe any comedy ever but is also a satire on government, officialdom and celebrity leadership that packs as much, if not more, of a punch now as it did on its inter-war release.
