Paula Berks

Paula Berks was born in 1951 and grew up in an artists’ environment in rural Cornwall. During her childhood she began a lifetime’s occupation of closely studying and drawing animals, especially horses. In 1995 she graduated with a BA hons in Fine Art from Falmouth College of Arts. Paula continues to live and work in Falmouth.

Paula has experimented with different styles to create texture on the canvas and has mastered various different techniques for building up surface layers and colours. Her paintings are strongly influenced by classical elements and she continually aims to take her work further towards some kind of purity. Her paintings are thought provoking and evocative. Many hold her own personal memories and meanings. Paula’s paintings are held in private collections throughout the UK.
