Jon White is a contemporary seascape artist who trained in New York & Los Angeles but now paints from his north coast studio in Cornwall. Jon describes his art as ‘felt’ as much as it is ‘seen.’ This exhibition is a visual memorial to Jon’s father who passed away unexpectedly from Covid in December 2021.
The sea speaks of love. It points beyond our current state to something so much greater, something eternal. This show explores the connection between the fragility of life & the conviction in that which is good, beautiful & true is eternal.
The show is dedicated to Jon’s father - a man who loved the
sea with childlike glee & championed Jon’s artistic practice from a young
age. Jon writes: “As I
continue to stare at the sea with paintbrush in hand my conviction is that my
father stands on an eternal shore also still in awe of the wild wild sea, vast, unmeasured & free.”’
