at the Poly - Cornish Special
Featuring some of Cornwall's finest musicians!
Jazz at the Poly celebrates the accomplished and the up-and-coming in Cornish jazz with this special event featuring the Sarah McDonagh Quartet, blending the classic sounds of jazz greats like Hank Mobley and Dexter Gordon with the modern style of contemporaries such as Bob Mintzer and Kenny Garrett.
Starting the evening is a special set by the Passing Notes, a local group of promising young players with their fresh take on jazz.

Starting with flute, age 10, Sarah quickly progressed to the
tenor saxophone in order to join the school jazz band and Cornwall Youth Jazz Orchestra. After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music in London, she
stayed in the capital for thirteen years, playing with several renowned bands,
including the London Jazz Orchestra, Michael Garrick Jazz Band and the
Guildhall Jazz Band under Scott Stroman, and leading players and jazz
luminaries Kenny Wheeler, Stan Sultzman, Randy Brecker, Bobby Shew and Michel
Legrand.
Since returning to Cornwall Sarah has played with numerous local and visiting
artists and continues playing in the UK and internationally with a prominent
all female saxophone quartet.
