Steve Buckley has been a major presence on the UK jazz scene for over thirty years. He was an original member of the ground breaking big band Loose Tubes going on to perform and record with many of the UK’s top jazz players nationally and internationally, as well as leading his own projects, the most recent of which being the Devon based band Strange News featuring Mike Outram.
Mike Outram is another major contributor to the UK music scene. His work spans jazz, contemporary improvised music, and progressive music. Known for his distinctive and exploratory approach to improvisation, he has performed and recorded with artists including Donny McCaslin, Tim Garland, Gwilym Simcock, Nikki Iles.
Expect to hear high-quality contemporary jazz with an emphasis on groove. The Quartet will be drawing on a wide range of material from various corners of the jazz world, anything from classic standards of the Great American Songbook era through to more modern compositions by such artists as Cedar Walton, Archie Shepp, Kenny Garrett, and Cannonball Adderley.
