Film critic Mark Kermode and radio producer Jenny Nelson take a lively trip through the music of the movies, sharing favourite scores, unexpected choices, behind-the-scenes stories and a few strong opinions, accompanied by music extracts along the way.
The conversation draws on their book Surround Sound: The Stories of Movie Music and on two careers spent listening to, talking about and occasionally arguing over films and their music.
Mark Kermode is one of the UK’s best-known film critics and broadcasters, as well as a musician and lifelong enthusiast for film music. Jenny Nelson is an award-winning radio producer and music programmer who has worked across BBC Radio, Classic FM, Scala Radio and Absolute Radio, including producing Mark’s weekly film music programme.
Together they’ll dig into the composers, directors, scores and stories behind some of cinema’s most memorable music, from celebrated classics to less obvious favourites.
Expect anecdotes, opinions, musical discoveries and the occasional disagreement.
Followed by book signing.
