Poly Parents // The Wife

POLY PARENTS: We believe that mums and dads shouldn't have to miss out on great cinema, which is why we are now offering special daytime screenings just for them. Bring your under 3 for free and we'll create a friendly, half-lit and low sound atmosphere to keep them calm while you enjoy the film. And, as an added bonus, you get to pick the next film we screen for you.

Dir. Björn Runge | Sweden/USA/UK  2018 | 100 min | 15

Glenn Close gives a truly masterful performance as a woman who has spent forty years sacrificing her own talent, dreams and ambitions to support those of her husband - until long-kept secrets are threatened to be exposed.

Joan (Glenn Close) has put her husband Joe (Jonathan Pryce) and his stellar literary career ahead of her own desires. Ignoring his infidelities and excuses made in the cause of his art, she has dealt with his bad behaviour with grace and humour. But the foundations of their marriage have been built upon a set of uneven compromises and, on the eve of Joe's Nobel Prize for Literature, she is forced to confront the biggest sacrifice of her life...

Expect to see Close rewarded for her astonishing performance when awards season arrives - she gives her career best in this poignant, funny and emotional celebration of womanhood, self-discovery and liberation.

Tickets: £7.75 adult / £6.00 concessions (inc. Poly Fund)

Please note: the screening at 10:30 is the PARENT & BABY showing. There are no concessions available for this screening.
