Cornwall and the Peace explores individuals' reasons for leaving or travelling to Georgian Cornwall. Choices interwoven with identities and circumstances over time. With researcher and writer Charlotte MacKenzie.
It focuses partly on life in Penzance during the brief interlude, in the quarter century, of wars between Britain and France from March 1802 to May 1803. And draws on the author’s extensive archival research.
Charlotte MacKenzie is a researcher and writer living in Penwith. Her writing focuses on Georgian Cornwall, including women's history. Author, editor, joint author, and contributor to many books. Former university senior lecturer in history.
