Documenting the model during her pregnancy with monthly life drawing sessions with a variety of short poses, each artist capturing the moments with their own style and medium.
The drawings and paintings record the stages of pregnancy of the model during her nine-month term. Each artist brings their own
interpretation and style to create a monthly record of the model’s developing
pregnancy through to the final mother and baby session. The poses vary from 10 minutes to 30 minutes
where the essence of the figure is captured.
The St Martin Life Drawing Group evolved due to Covid restrictions putting an end to gatherings of more than six people. Starting at home with just a couple of artists and a model, the group has grown to four regular artists and sometimes six at the present time.
The meetings take place every Sunday night
7pm-9.30pm with a half time refreshment break. The venue is a heated barn/studio
that comfortably accommodates the model and the artists. During the past two
years it is easy to recognise how the stimulating environment has
progressed each of the artist's work. The models have been fantastic and quite
professional in their poses, some short and some long.
During the last year the group have been
fortunate enough to document the monthly stages of a pregnant girl up until the
birth of her child and followed up with some classical mother and child poses.
This portfolio of work forms the basis of this 'PREGNANCY' exhibition.
The artists involved are:-Leah Ashton, Ian Dunlop, Simon Farnell of ‘Green View Studio’ and Chris Bean.
