Queer Reflections present this 9o's comedy classic 'To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar'. Travelling to a drag queen beauty pageant in Hollywood, three New York 'girls' find themselves in for a shock when their car breaks down in the mid-western town of Snydesville. Realising how dull their new surroundings are they decide to make the best of it and set about bringing a little glitz and glamour into the lives of the staid local citizenry. However, along the way they attract the attention of the police which threatens to derail their road trip to Hollywood. Will they make it back on the road to attend the beauty pageant? The cast includes Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze and John Leguizamo.
This screening of To Wong Foo is accompanied by a special podcast recording of Queer Reflections, hosted by Harry Faint. Harry is a further education lecturer at Exeter College, currently researching the responses to queer representation in the media, past, present and future. For this episode, Harry is joined by Roland Bray.
