Karen Hemsley-Biggs: Secret View

Karen is inspired by the hidden views and perspective that takes her breath away - through trees, across water or from above. She is a devout follower of her own intuition and rules - showing you her perspective, simplified forms, patterns, harmonious colour palettes and light. 

Karen's inspiration comes from Cornwall and the Helford River where she lives. Focusing on what she wants the viewer to appreciate, she exaggerates scale and simplify shapes, in order that she is able to introduce patterns into shades and tones, rather than merging them together. 

Her brush guides her into those fluid shapes and squiggles. She uses limited palettes to create the harmony that the place makes her feel. She further layers her acrylics to produce a clean, smooth finish.
