GLEN DENNING: CORNISH CONTEMPLATION - A RETROSPECTIVE

A curated collection from a Cornishman’s perspective. Conveying the freedom and diversity of coastal and rural Westcountry life. Glens’ lifelong love affair with his home county of Cornwall, is expressed through his works, being an original and authentic Cornish artist.

Working from his tranquil studio in the woods, this collection of work blends Glens’ love of the ocean, his Cornish heritage, his eye for design and his passion for craftsmanship. Making all his frames from recycled wood and a number of canvases from scratch, along with his appreciation of the natural world, Glen captures those fleeting happy moments from his perspective. Sunlight playing on water, the contrast of light, the use of colour, the beauty of shape and movement, resulting in the exquisite scenic artistry that brings joy and lifts the spirit - this expression is all seen through his exceptional technical ability.

Working solely in oils and when studying under the tutelage of Malcolm Haylett at Redruth School of Art in the 60's, Glen fell in love with art and creativity from a very early age. His first job as a technical draftsman for Rolls Royce, along with his appreciation and fascination of the 'Old Masters' paintings, inspired Glens’ skill set and ability, which is conveyed throughout his work today. As a commercial artist and running his own Advertising and Marketing agency during the 70's, 80's & 90's, Glens’ knowledge and experience as a commercial artist and designer and love for all things creative, is expressed through his original passion of painting.

We hope you enjoy the exhibition.
