Landscape Take Five artists are returning to the
Poly for another exhibition of work inspired by the landscape. In this
exhibition – ‘Natures Palette’, the landscape and countryside are the starting point for
their work, and each artist develops their ideas in their chosen medium of
ceramics, textiles, paint and ink. By
the use of these different mediums, this exhibition gives the viewer an insight
into how each artist approaches and develops new concepts in the subject of the
environment and landscape.
Karen Needham Ceramics: Hand built, stoneware with unpredictable lava glazes resulting in a rugged stonelike decoration to her work.
Mary Taylor: Mary deconstructs the landscape and intuitively reassembles it without losing all recognition of a place, using various mediums.
Anne
Richards: Beautiful textile images from moorland and rugged landscape. Uses hand dyed
fabrics and threads with hand and machine surface stitching.
Neville Cox: Neville is inspired
by the countryside of the West Country. He particularly loves the coast and the
spectacular northern edge of Exmoor, as well as the beautiful rugged cliffs of
the Lizard Peninsula. Neville enjoys sketching and painting outdoors. Most of
his work consists of finished pochade paintings created en plein air, along
with studio work based on his sketches and
photographs.
Sarah Trewhella: Inspired by the seasons and natural plant and animal forms, Sarah is enthused by her observation of the Lizard Peninsula and Helford River areas. Sarah uses Ink and mixed media. Alongside this she also works in glass/mixed media.
