Two local artists, Sophie Penstone and Alice Hole, are coming together for their first joint exhibition to celebrate their love of the Cornish landscape and exhibit new work that is inspired by their local surroundings that plays a fundamental part in their paintings.
Alice is a fine artist who moved to Cornwall in 2012 and
uses the beautiful landscape as her main source of inspiration. She is a member of The National Acrylic
Painters’ Association and has won awards with her work.
Sophie has been painting in watercolour since her move to
Cornwall 16 years ago and enjoys pushing it as a medium exploring different
subject matter, be it flora in the hedgerow, a pocket of woodland, the power of
the sea or local harbours. Her work has been exhibited in Europe and she has
collectors from all corners of the world.
In their individual but complimentary styles, this
exhibition follows both Alice and Sophie on their journey through West Cornwall
from beach to countryside to town. Through their paintings and drawings they
aim to take us with them, pausing to show this stunning area from their unique
viewpoint; a wave breaking on a beach, a rural path in autumnal hues, a boat
moored in a harbour bathed in light and the stunning creeks and coves along the
Helford River.
