4-Week Glaze Technology Course

The aim of the course is to:

● allow you to gain an insight into the materials that make up glaze

● help you to gain a basic understanding of what these materials are and how they affect your glazes through experimentation and developing tests

● allow you to make basic glaze recipes from scratch and see the results each week

● give you extended knowledge through taking notes, discussing your findings, and sharing your results.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

● understand what the individual glaze ingredients do in a glaze

● understand how to put together different ingredients to create a glaze

● weigh different materials and mix glazes tests

● reflect on fired glaze tests and analyse results

● build your own folder of glaze recipes and results

● understand a basic awareness of Ceramics glaze, materials, and studio Health and Safety practices.

Suitable for beginners and professionals - no previous knowledge or practice is required.

POTTERY WORKSHOP: GLAZE TECHNOLOGY 4 WEEKS

When: Thursdays 6.30pm-8.30pm 

Next course start: Thursday 12th March

Where: The Poly Pottery (at the back of The Poly, accessed from New Street)

Duration: four weeks

Class size: eight per class

Tutor: Karl Owen

Cost: £159, 

A £1 Poly Fund payment is added to each ticket sold. A 50p booking fee is also applied per ticket for online and telephone transactions.

The Pottery is at the back of The Poly on New Street. Keeping The Poly building on your right, walk down the sloping path past the 'stage door' sign. The door to the pottery is on the corner of the building you're passing on your left as you walk down the path.
